Games Don’t have to be Entertaining

Johnny shared this review with us of the game Actual Sunlight.

The reviewer makes a point of describing how games don’t have to be entertaining. He explains this by pointing out how we experience a painting.

“Deep, important, meaningful, beautiful and fulfilling? All these words describe the finest paintings, but “entertaining” isn’t really the right word to describe the impact of looking on a beautiful painting.”

He describe Actual Sunlight as:

“an emotionally draining game, richly realised narrative experience that won’t entertain you in the slightest, but it should get you thinking about something that we, as a society, need to take far more seriously.”

13 Songs will have a similar focus on narrative driven experience revolving around realistic and fully developed characters.
